The Boson Glass and Tin are used to contain the ice and ingredients while shaking, they create a seal when joined and can be easily be separated by the palm of tour hand. The glass allows the customer to view the ingredients being built, the tin enables a tight seal and enables the tender to know when the drink is cold enough.

It is rather like the pestle part of a pestle and mortar. Traditionally they are made from wood with a rounded base or a spiked base for gripping citrus fruit.
The Hawthorn Strainer is used to contain ice and fruit pulp in the cocktail shaker, while allowing the mixed drink to flow through. The coiled spring surrounding the disk ensures a close fit between the tin and the hawthorn strainer allowing liquid to pass but not ice and debris..
